On a one year warranty inspection the other day I caught something that didn't look right. It was a section of siding that had fallen loose on the side of the dormer above the garage. Just another reason to get a one year warranty on your newly built home. If the homeowner would not have been notified of this in the report I gave them, there is a good chance in a few years they would have been replacing the siding instead due to premature rot.
There should be a minimum of 1-1/2 to 2" of clearance from the siding to the roof surface. The reason for this it to keep water from wicking up into the siding and causing premature rot.
